So i got in touch with Medion, and they say they have had loads of problems with this, they checked my key and it valid so now i'm gonna have to do a clean install to solve the fecking problem.

Apprently Medion have had loads of calls regarding this. They said its always old machines for some reason that are having the problems. Anyone else had this problem??? I was just wondering if there is anyway I can do this, solve the problem, without having to do a clean install?? Old Rich. Joined Jan 17, Messages 10, Have you called Microsoft yet? YOu could try a repair install. I have done a clean install from the recovery disk as Medion told me to. I am concerned however that I will just get the same problem because it didnt ask me to activate the key when it rebooted up.

I am currently downloading service pack 2 I have already installed service pack 1. I understand that I can untick to receive this Genuine validation tool thingy, but for only so long before they have it as a forced download. So how do I activate the key manually because I dont seem to have the option in system tools, as other websites indicate to activate manually. Apprenlty because this PC was a pre install already installed on the PC when bought the key should have been activated by the manufacturer Medion who I have already contacted and they have said the key is valid and was supplied by Microsoft.

I just want to get it all sorted asap, because I dont want to be in the position of having to do a clean install again. Search Advanced search…. New posts. Search forums. Log in. Sign up. Computer problem? Tech Support Guy is completely free -- paid for by advertisers and donations.

I registered the copy with the product key back then and it worked fine until a recent update. Now, Microsoft are saying that I have a counterfeit copy with invalid product key for my region Australia. How do I remove the annoying 'victim of software counterfeit' reminder that Microsoft has put on my desktop?

Except for the obvious solution please help. JennyJackson01 Account Closed. Joined Apr 3, Messages The good news though, is that users have had plenty of time to find workarounds to issues. Many users of Windows XP have at some point experienced a problem which causes all icons stop working. In the case of shortcuts, the icon no longer works because Windows does not know where the.

If the icons are files, not shortcuts, then Windows has forgotten what program is used to hand the files. You should also run a virus-scan to see if your PC is infected, as this problem can sometimes be caused by a virus which is changing Windows settings without you knowing.

This error can appear when attempting to select, choose or change the properties of a printer. Instead of performing the task, this error halts your progress. A faulty driver is usually the culprit. Find the Drivers tab and then, the driver of the printer which gives you this error.

Remove it, restart your computer, and re-install the driver preferably a newer version, if you can find it. If the error still occurs, remove the driver again but, instead of re-starting, open regedit. Browse the registry for any entries that match the name not model of the printer you removed.

Delete them, then restart and re-install the driver. Not everyone has been able to install it, however. This will tell you about system requirements, previous required updates, updates that can cause trouble, and any third-party software you should disable. The list of items to check is rather long.

If problems persist you can try installing Service Pack 3 through direct download rather than through Windows Update.

You can find the file here.
