Can anyone help me find some direction to work on this? Right now I'm at a standstill. Oct 9, 31, It could definitely be a failing hard drive.
But I have also had it occur when large files were edited and Windows was having a hard time syncing the changes it's file based replication, so it can't work if the file is open. My suggestion would be to copy the conflicted files off of the server and check your SMART data for any indication of bad sectors.
If everything checks out, delete the files off of the server and then copy them back on via your backup.
Jul 22, 3, 12 Try a whole network reboot -- shut down your clients, reboot the server, then bring up the clients. Thanks for the help. Things are getting progressively worse. I started getting more warnings and then I got a warning saying that one of my disks had failed. I have everything duplicated in WHS and I have separate backups so I'm not worried about losing data. I planned to remove the drive and work things out when I had time.
But one day later I started getting notifications that the server was not connected, even though the lights on the Acer box were all on and there were no warnings. So I rebooted the server and then I would have access. But this morning, even though the Win7 icon says the server is healthy, when I access the WHS console I get several error messages and then when the console opens the storage tab, shared folders tab and backup tabs are not there.
Now I can't remove the bad drive since the tab to access that function isn't there to do it. I'm not sure how to proceed now. There isn't much WHS help out there.
And things get even worse. This post is "AS IS" and confers no rights. Sign in. United States English. Ask a question. Quick access.

I am considering ditching WHS and going back to Server as the reliability seems appauling unless someone can help. Microsoft don't seem at all interested when I call. Any ideas folks? Kind regards Paul. Wednesday, March 10, PM. The only solution seems to be to delete the file and a while mins or hours as unattended later the message returned with other files having the same problem. Sorry for the Typo! These file conflict errors are multiplying!
I have 6 messages containing about 6 or 8 file in each now. I tried to remove the drive from Server Storage but it's reporting insufficient free space which is untrue.
I have over 2TB free without this apparently unhealthy drive. Now the panel is locked up. I don't know what in the heck is wrong with this thing. I surely hope I don't lose any data. The important data is duplicated, but I don't know what to expect if I just jerk this drive out and replace it. Posted: Fri Jan 08, am. Posted: Fri Jan 08, pm. If your data is duplicated, then you should be safe though you might lose some or all of your Client Backups.
It definitely sounds like a failing drive, you can try removing it, WHS will complain but it might resolve the console locking up issues. I'll recommend having another drive ready to install to replace it. You could of installed the new drive and from the console add it to your storage pool and then select the drive you want to remove from the storage pool to be removed. I think with the new drive in first the process will go much smoother since your storage pool will be much larger for your server to work with.
I expected it to be a fairly simple process to physically remove the drive and remove it from the storage pool. It just won't let me. Maybe I need to wait a day or two?
That seems extreme. I inserted the new drive into the bad drive's bay. Currently have the following physical drive structure: 4 - empty 3 - existing 1. It's just "calculating sizes.
